Asamoah Gyan is the best foreign player in the UAE

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan is the best foreign player in the UAE in a survey conducted by the Etihad newspaper.

The Black Stars captain finished top scorer in the 2012-13 season while helping Al Ain clinch their second consecutive UAE Pro-League title.

Gyan scored 31 goals this term to smash his own record of the most goals scored in a single season in the UAE.

The 27-year-old?s exploits in just two seasons with Al Ain has now propelled him to the top of the survey list conducted by the Etihad newspaper which studied 13 players in all.

The former Sunderland hitman garnered 43 votes from the total cast to beat closest rival Grafite of Al Ahli while Ajman?s Kabi places third.

The Ghana striker?s move to the UAE has proved to be a huge success for Al Ain who paid a record 6m pounds for Gyan in an initial loan deal.

They were reported have parted with a further 7m pounds to sign the Black Stars captain permanently from Sunderland and making him one of the best paid African players abroad.

Gyan is adored by the Boss fans for his undoubted commitment and loyalty since arriving from Sunderland in 2011.
