The Heads of Mission from international partners supporting Kenya’s August 8 elections have met this morning with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman and Commissioners.

The group congratulated the Commission on the important National Elections Conference held in Nairobi on 13-14 June, which allowed participants to discuss electoral preparations and to make clear their support for free, fair, credible, and peaceful elections.

In a statement signed by the heads, the group indicated the significance of the National Elections Conference cannot be overstated.

“The conference was an important sign of confidence in the IEBC, and we urge all Kenyans to continue to support the IEBC. We warmly welcome the signing of the IEBC pledge to’peaceful and credible elections,’ by so many Kenyans, including President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
