He noted that basic education in the Eastern Region is nothing good to talk about, indicating that about one hundred and twenty schools recorded zero percent in the BECE exams, he appealed to the Regional Minister to put in measures to curb this situation since education is the bedrock of the country.

The Okyenhene said roads in the Region especially Kyebi have been left in deplorable state, appealing to the minister to use her office to rehabilitate the roads for them since it is their biggest challenge.

The Okyehene made these remarks during a regional tour in Kyebi by the Eastern Regional Minister Hon. Helen Adwoa Ntoso, when she interacted with Heads of Department of East Akim Municipal Assembly.

She also paid a courtesy call on the Okyenhene, and toured most of the mining sites in communities like Asiakwa, Asikame and Dadeantem, most of the mining pit areas.

She found out that most of the mining pits were uncovered which serves as death traps for the people in the community and mosquito breeding place.

It was indicated that most of the illegal miners are foreigners who normally give huge sums of money to the chiefs for the lease of land.
