The Osei-Kusi Foundation (OKF), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has supported residents of Apremso, a town in the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly, with various items and a medical screening.

The Foundation, in an outreach programme carried out in the community over the weekend, gave the residents free health and dental screening, free medications as well as gifts of clothing and machetes, among others at the cost of more than GH¢6,000.00.

In an interview with Dr Kofi Osei-Kusi, the Global Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, said the donation was to help put smile on the faces of the community folks.

He said beside the physical gifts, there is the need to preach the gospel to them, leading to the sharing of bibles to help them get closer to their maker.

Dr Osei-Kusi said the Foundation has been undertaking such efforts over the past seven years, adding that on the average, the NGO reaches out to three communities in a year.

He said although the outreach did not solve the communities’ long-term problems, it provided inspiration and short-term solutions.

“We as a Foundation believes that Government alone cannot develop a country and we as a people ought to do our bit to help make a difference,” he said.

Dr Osei-Kusi said an average of 400 people, including adults and children, benefited from the outreach exercise, many of them having to see the dentist for the first time in their lives.

He said the NGO carried out the exercise not because it had a lot of money but because there are people who were willing to sacrifice towards making people in deprived communities happy and have a sense of belonging.

Dr Osei-Kusi urged NGOs and benevolent corporate institutions to continue in their efforts to make a positive impact in the society even in the face of financial challenges.

Nana Ntow Kwabena II, the Chief of Apremso Number One, commended the OKF for showing deep kindness to his community with the gifts, free health screening, counselling and free medications.

He called on the government to help in the construction of the community’s road network and also help the community with improved water systems.

Amidst smiles and dancing, the community called God’s blessings on the Foundation and its partners for the benevolence showed to them.
