Following the issuance of certificate of return to the Anambra State Governor-elect, Chief Willie Obiano by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and subsequent celebration of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) at the mausoleum of the war veteran, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu at Nnewi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a statement said that the APGA candidate, Obiano is not the Governor-elect of the state but was rather standing on the legitimate right of the people.
APC insisted that there was no election in Anambra State which it said is the resultant effect of the low turn out of those celebrating in the state.
?If there was truly an election, and governor-elect, the people will rise and celebrate. But in absence of that, prisoners of anti-Igbo interests, who lean on ?foreign army? to attempt appointing  minority people  are seeking to etch out news  out of yesterday?s deceitful antics,? it said.
The interim state Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Okelo Madukaife further argued that, ?the tendency to visit Ojukwu?s grave with unclean hands will back-fire in no time, because Ojukwu ran an Eastern Nigeria government that sacked a man from the civil service for buying a piece of land in another name.
?This underlines Ojukwu?s disdain for corruption, and vulgar accumulation of wealth, let alone those who cook up figures to short-change their people from voting. It represents a monumental insult to mix up the name of Ojukwu with such abominable acts by people whose only target is the N5.76 billion deal awaiting them and the need to watch their back.?
Madukaife warned the APGA national chairman, Chief Victor Umeh to stop politicizing Ojukwu?s name, describing such as an aberration in Igbo nation.
?We remind Umeh and his APGA co-travellers, that nobody, no matter how highly placed, can steal that right and serve Ndi Anambra half-hearted platitudes hoping to hide iniquity behind the great name of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu.
?Similarly, nobody can short-change any inch of the Igbo Nation, for partisan reason using only such sell-outs like Chief Umeh and Govenor Peter Obi.
?We also know that Dim Chukwuemeka, the General of the People?s Army, the one Ndigbo respect and revere even in death, will not for one day – dead or alive – spit on the grave of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe by supporting the rigging of elections by APGA on the day Zik was born and buried ?November 16 – with the active collaboration with a non-Igbo who claims Azikiwe?s name for votes.?
He concluded by informing APGA members not to rejoice yet as the court has the final say.
?We urge APGA to be cautious about polluting the Anambra State environment with a short-lived gloat, putrefied by illegitimacy, because every day is for the thief and one day for the owner. The 2007 elections were rigged. The 2010 elections were rigged. The 2013 elections were not just rigged it was fought with brigandage, package din the open theft involving the election umpires.
?It is in this light that APC will soon follow suit in the courts and in all places in the world where an audience can be secured on the travesty in Anambra State,? he said.
