The All Progressives Congress, APC, Rivers State Chapter remains saddened but not surprised that Governor Nyesom Wike is running a government of deceit and duplicity in Rivers State.

GOV NYESOME E. WIKE MAIN 001The APC is sad because the style of governance of the present government led by Gov. Nyesom Wike holds no hope for Rivers people. If anything, the actions of this government principally amounts to collective condemnation of the future of Rivers people because every step taken by it is fraught with dishonesty, covetousness and deceit.

On the 29th of May, 2015 a just sworn-in Gov. Nyesom Wike flagged off a ?Zero Pothole? project which he claimed was to be carried out by Julius Berger [Nig] Ltd. And CC&CEC Ltd. The APC immediately smelt a huge rat with many questions than it could find answers. Did the governor conduct the due process for the award of that project to Julius Berger while he was Citizen Nyesom Wike? What were the discussions and agreement that led to what Rivers people saw as the flagging of the project? Was Nyesom Wike in a position to conduct a contract award process as a Governor-elect? Too many questions than answers!

Close to a month later, a contract signing ceremony for the project was done in public, leaving many wondering why the project would be flagged off while the contract was left to be signed at a later date.

But more worrying to the APC is that a semblance of half-hearted filling-up of potholes seen on a few roads of Port Harcourt has no Julius Berger or CC&CEC in sight. Instead, equipment and men belonging to two companies in which Governor Wike and his crony, Sir Mike Elechi have substantial ownership, are the ones undertaking the project. The companies are Easy E Construction Company and Asphalt Unity & Construction Company [AUC] Ltd.

The R/S Chapter of APC would like to challenge the Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike and his associate, Sir Mike Elechi to own up that they have personal interests in the aforementioned companies now conducting the Zero Pothole project in Rivers State otherwise the APC will be forced to make public everything the party knows about the ownership of the two companies in order to open the eyes of Rivers people to the antics of Governor Nyesom Wike.

On the other hand, the APC is not surprised that, barely one month into its short lifespan, the Nyesom Wike-led government of Rivers State is already steeped in fronting own companies to defraud Rivers people. We are not surprised because it is a familiar territory that fits into the persona of the Governor.
