Anthony Annan has been asked to rest for two days to heal properly in order to resume training with the Black Stars.

The 26-year-old picked up an ankle injury in one of Ghana?s warm-up games in the lead up to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The on-loan Schalke player at Osasuna has played just 17 minutes of Ghana?s campaign at the Nations Cup in South Africa.

He came on a second half substitute in the 2-2 draw with DR Congo in the Group B opener.

Annan has since been involved in training and was expected to be fit for Ghana?s final group game against Niger on Monday.

He however seems to have suffered an injury setback as the team doctors have adviced he stays away for two days in order to recover fully before resuming training.

?He (Annan) has been asked to rest for two days to ensure he will be fit to play (against Mali),? Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie-Daara said in an update of the injury situation in the Ghana camp.

?This is a precautionary measure and he has been asked to rest for two days from now until he is ready to train.?

This means Annan will not train with the side in the lead up to Monday?s game against Niger.

The dependable midfielder?s injury has hit the Black Stars hard as he is an integral member of the side that hopes to end a 31-year wait for an African title in South Africa.
