Welcoming Chinese Ambassador to Angola, Cui Aimin, who was on a visit to Malanje on Friday, Malanjie Governor Norbberto Dos Santos said the province was a major farming area of Angola producing crops including corns, beans and cassava.

y17gx33wvqfarming.jpgThe official said Malanje hoped to cooperate with potential Chinese investors in agricultural areas including the irrigation system, processing of farming products and the development of household farming.

For his part, Ambassador Cui said he was impressed with the resources Malanje had in the farming and tourism sectors, but lamented that most of the areas were “undeveloped”.

The ambassador said the Chinese government had encouraged cooperation between Chinese companies and their Angolan counterparts in the farming sector.

He added developing farming to ensure food security was key to a country.
