Angolan President Joao Lourenco on Thursday called for greater participation of society in the fight against crimes that afflict the citizen, damage the economy and the good name of the country.

The Angolan Head of State made the remarks at the inauguration ceremony of the new Attorney General and his deputies, stressing that the objective is to halt the increase of crime in the country and extend the intervention of the judicial bodies in this fight.

Lourenco also spoke of the white collar crimes, which is generally committed by people of high social status.

“It is necessary to cooperate with all, mainly with the peaceful citizen who is aware of the practice of illegal acts,” stated the president, alluding to the need to report these practices to the competent authorities.

He expressed confidence in the work to be carried out by the entities that are now in office and believes that with them, the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) will be more dynamic in its actions.

Lourenco on Tuesday appointed Helder Fernando Pitta Gros as Attorney General of the Republic, replacing Joao Maria Moreira de Sousa, who ended his term. Enditem
