Angolan President Joao Lourenco announced on Tuesday in Belgium that the country’s diamond sector will be restructured to make it more profitable.

Speaking at the Antwerp’s Diamond Exchange, Lourenco said the restructuring of the sector is due to the country’s need to increase diamond production, to improve the sale and to polish them in the country.

“The current situation will change soon and will be known by all,” said Lourenco.

The Angolan president said that the new models of work in the diamond industry will be announced soon.

He said the country has not been able to take advantage of the diamonds production, despite being the fifth largest producing country in the world, with an annual harvest of more than 9 million carats. Enditem
