The items included cloths, sugar, milk, fruits, biscuits, soft drinks, bags of sachets water, soap, detergents and toiletries.

Presenting the items, Reverend Father Justice Joseph Bain-Duodoo, Priest in- charge of the Church said the donation formed part of the Church’s social responsibility of reaching out to the needy in the society.

The items, he said, were solicited through contributions of church members and from other individuals who were willing to help the helpless in the society.

Rev. Father Duodoo indicated that it was the aim and mission of the Church to help those in need, especially the sick who could not work to feed themselves.

He stressed that “as Christians we should make it a cardinal point to assist those in need as it was exemplified in the life of Jesus Christ, our Lord”.

He also expressed the need for Non Governmental Organisation (NGO’s) and philanthropic organisations as well as individuals to show love to the needy by reaching out to them.

“Love must be practical and we should not show love to only those who are closer to us, Christ did not do it to people who were his relatives, he did it to mankind. Showing love should not be limited to people who can give back to us but people who are in need,” He emphasised.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Hospital, Ms Philomena Tayman, Senior Staff Nurse of the Hospital, expressed gratitude to the Church and called on other corporate and religious bodies to emulate the gesture to avert the numerous challenges of the Hospital.
