The Anambra state gov, Willie ?Obiano yesterday inaugurated the
state’s executive Council of 19 Commissioners and 10 Special
Assistants to enable him function effectively.

The governor, looking resplendent and cool arrived Council Chambers,
Government House for the function in company of his top close aides at
about?3.45pm, dressed in a 3-piece sky-blue flowing babanriga, with a
cap and pair of shoes to match.

The governor in his brief but unambiguous remark, charged them to put
in their best always to meet with the yearnings and high expectations
of citizens and to remain steadfast or be shown the way out.

The appointees took both the oath of office and oath of allegiance, in
turns one after another, to the admiration of the enthusiastic guests.
The guests were made up of mainly top government functionaries, their
spouses/families, friends and well-wishers.

The new Commissioner for Youth/Sports, Chief Tony Nnacheta, a former
boss of the Nigerian Football Association who was initially tipped for
the Finance Ministry, but for the purpose of fair spread of portfolios
said they would bring their wealth of experience to bear on their
areas of assignment.

A versatile well-read and widely travelled accounts guru who has
quality experience in many other varied areas, according to government
sources, would have his hands in many pies in the administration.

Also among the line up is Kate Omenugha, the Head of Department, Mass
communication, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka who becomes the
Commissioner for Education.

Also Tony Onyima former Managing Director of Sun Newspapers now heads
the Ministry of Information and Culture. Nnamdi Meko heads
agricultur.Two former Commissioners-Works, Calistus Ilozumba and Mrs
Azuka Enemuo for the Ministry of Local Govt/Chieftaincy Matters.
