The Deputy Inspector General of Police Operations DIG Habila who is representing the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Kpotum Idris in the ongoing Anambra Guber election have stated that Anambarians have made the Police job easier with the peaceful way they have carried out their civic responsibilities during the much talked about election.

He said after his ground and aerial patrol of several major areas of Awka the State capital, Onitsha, Nnewi, Aguleri and other major parts of the State said that “The people of Anambra have made our job as security personnel easier in the way and manner they have conducted themselves so far as there have not been any major security glitch reported so far it has been peaceful as everywhere remains calm.”

He also added that the threats of ‘Vote and Die’ by some certain groups eventually didn’t have any effect as there were massive turnout in the different polling units the DIG visited.

The PPRO of Anambra State police command Ms. Nwode Nkiru Hope also thanked the IGP of Police for providing the necessary conditions for the Police to carry put its constitutional responsibility of providing a level playing field for all players in the much coveted election to participate freely without fear or intimidation.

The Police are being supported by other security agencies including the Nigeria Customs Service, NSCDC, Nigeria Customs, DSS, Prisons and the Military.
