Kumasi Asante Kotoko captain Amos Frimpong, has promised a very good year for the porcupine warriors prior to their season opener against the scientific soccer lads Liberty Professionals at Kumasi on Sunday afternoon.
In an interview with GNA Sports, Frimpong stated that the club has put in place the right measures for them to have a better season compared to the previous one and that the quality of each of the players will give a serious headache to the coach in the dressing room.
“We are seriously preparing for Sunday, training has been really great and every player is poised for action. The competition in camp is quite incredible and nobody is sure of a starting eleven so all the players are working very hard for the premier league.
“The coach is new but since he arrived he has shown to us his style of play, how he wants things to be done and we are getting along very well. I know with time we will improve and understand everything better, So far so good in camp.
“We promised to win the league last season, but unfortunately we couldn’t make it happen, but I know this season will be better per the structures we have put in place.
“The club has made some good recruitments, I know with the qualities of these new players we will have a very strong team and a very good coach.
“Baba Mahama, Kwame Boahen, I mean all of the new players are very good and I think the coach will have a headache in the dressing room.
“I had a very good season last year and I am hoping to have a better form this season. We had a poor start to the season last year and it really affected the team so we can’t afford to make those mistakes again.
“We are going into a very cagey encounter against Liberty Professionals, who have always been a constant threat to Kotoko especially in Kumasi,” Said Amos Frimpong.
The efficient right back trusts that an unflinching support from the fans of Kumasi Asante Kotoko can help them become champions of the premier league again this season.
“We will need the support of all our fans…they provide an extra motivation, when we see them at the sports stadium…their support has always been encouraging over the years, even when things get tough and we will need them again this season to win the premier league.
