Amarkai Amarteifio

SUPPORTERS OF Division one side Accra Great Olympics have heaved a sigh of relief with the bowing out of His Excellency, Hon. Amarkai Amarteifio as Board Chairman of the once upon a time ?Wonder Club? of Ghana.

Amarkai Amerteifio, who has often been cited by supporters as a key detractor of the club, says he hopes his departure will open a new chapter in the history of the club.
Although soccer pundits have cited poor management and internal wrangling as the bane of the poor showings of the club which was once a toast of many football loving funs, supporters and other friends of the club have persistently fingered the Honourable Swedish consul as being responsible for the woes of the club.

Lamenting on his exit, Hon. Amarkai Amarteifio stated: ?I know some of the supporters have not been happy and I have also been at the receiving end of a lot of vilification. But I am not new to that. I am not new to intemperate language but now I am leaving. I came to serve, but now I am not able to continue? I was given a mandate and I feel I have done my part?.

The outgoing Board Chairman further announced that the wonder club would soon be listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) believing that it would help alleviate some of the perennial problems of the club. ?Very soon Great Olympics will float shares which will insulate the club from personalities who have been using their personal capital in the running of the club. By floating shares, Olympics will also be free from the perennial problems that have bedeviled the club,? he stated.

The revelation made by Hon. Amarkai Amarteifio was indeed welcome news to followers of the club who believe it is time to attach more seriousness and business-mindedness to the poor administration which led to the relegation of the club from Ghana?s Premier league.
