The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has said it would carry out a vigorous clean-up exercise on December 2 (tomorrow) as part of the National Sanitation Campaign.

In this regard, it called on all shops, markets and other commercial activities to remain closed between 0600 hours and 1000 hours in pursuant to the AMA (Environmental Sanitation Day) Bye Laws, 1995.

The order was given in a statement signed by Mr Sam Ayeh-Datey, the AMA Metro Coordinating Director and copied to the Ghana News Agency.

It said during the exercise Sanitary Inspectors (Samam Saman) would be visiting households and entities to inspect their sanitation condition and issue notices (summons) if necessary.

The statement directed transport operators to undertake general cleaning at all lorry parks and bus stations with minimum movement of vehicles expect those of emergency and security services.

It urged residents, departments and agencies, corporate organisations, markets, drivers, opinion leaders, traditional authorities, teachers, students and pupils to come out with their tools to help clean their respective communities, places of work, homes and
