Ghanaian boxer Thiophilus Allotey secured the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Continental Africa Super Flyweight title with an eighth-round technical knockout victory over compatriot David Tagoe on April 25.
The bout, held at Accra’s historic Bukom Boxing Arena, saw Allotey maintain his undefeated record, now standing at 10-0 (9 KOs), while Tagoe’s slate dropped to 11-4-1 (10 KOs).
The cautious opening round gave way to explosive action in the second when Allotey dropped Tagoe with a sharp left hook. Though Tagoe recovered and rallied late in the round, Allotey’s calculated counterattacks in subsequent rounds kept his opponent under pressure. Tagoe found momentum in the middle rounds, but Allotey reasserted dominance by the fifth, landing decisive blows that left Tagoe unable to continue after the seventh.
