About 150 amateur and professional golfers throughout the country are taking part in the two-day 36-Hole Scratch competition.

Nicholas Amoah, General Manager of Tema Country Golf Club told Ghana News Agency on Tuesday that the competition, which is in its 12th year, is being sponsored by Milicom Ghana Limited.


He said the necessary arrangement had been put in place to ensure that the Course was playable.

‘We have been working very hard over the past few weeks to irrigate the Course and I must say that we have done a very good job, and that, a very keen competition is therefore anticipated’, He said.

Felix Owusu-Adjapong, a former Minister in the Kufuor administration, Noel Hammond, immediate past captain of Tema Golf Club, Kweku Okyere and Alex Fiagomey, all of Tema are expected to battle each other for the trophy.

The Celebrity Golf Club, which would be led by their captain, Francis Akwasi Opoku, will include S.K. Afari, Kusi Ohemeng, Geoffrey Avornyotse and Akwasi Adu Agyei.

The Youth would engage in a one-day 18-Hole fiesta on November 21 whilst the Professionals battle for supremacy in a 72-Hole event.

Seven prizes will be awarded in the Men’s category with four in the Ladies segment.

There will also be prizes for ‘The Nearest to the Pin’ as well as ‘Bobby’.

Peter Amenyo of Tema Golf Club will be defending the trophy he won last year.
