In Gasabo, Stephen Rwamulangwa, Raymond Mberabahizi, and Languide Nyirabahire were elected to represent Kimironko, Rutunga and Kimihurura, sectors respectively.Sierra Leone Elections

They are vying to replace former mayor Willy Ndizeye and his two vice mayors; Jean Claude Munara (finance and economic development) and Marie Louise Uwimana who was in charge of social affairs. The trio resigned last month.

In Nyarugenge, Jean Marie Ndayisenga was elected councillor for Nyamirambo Sector, replacing Jean Pierre Kalisa, the former vice-mayor for social affairs who passed on in October.

In Mpanga Sector in Kirehe District, Gerard Muzungu was elected as he bids to replace former mayor Protais Murayire, who resigned in October.

The councillors, who are now members of advisory councils in their respective districts, will join other advisors in electing members of the executive committees (mayors and vice- mayors).
The elections at the district level will take place today.

Public speaks out

Immacul?e Nyiramajyambere, from Gatovu cell, Kimironko Sector, said any elected leader should serve with diligence and be ready to be held accountable by the electorate.

?By so doing, leaders will achieve their targets,? said the mother of five.

She said vulnerable people should be supported to run lucrative businesses, especially those already operating small businesses.

Jean Claude Uwizeyimana, 29, from Kibagabaga cell, Kimironko Sector, said leaders should strive to promote cooperatives to help the youth get decent employment.
