The West African office based in Accra, Ghana, will provide technical expertise, reactivity and local presence. Customer service such as commissioning, troubleshooting, standard maintenance and training will also be available locally.

The office will be supported by a back office based in France and a network of West African channel partners.

According to Cyril Massard, New Regional Business Manager for West Africa, companies in the region faced numerous challenges and trends and as such required experience and expertise to tackle; a trait, he said Alfa Laval possessed.

?Companies in the region face numerous challenges and follow several trends. On the one hand, the standards of living and energy costs are rising and, on the other hand, industries must deal with aging equipment and tight work spaces. These trends and challenges require the experience and knowhow that Alfa Laval can now offer locally?, Cyril Massard said.

With a steadily rising GDP of 7.1 for West Africa in 2014, as compared to 6.3 in 2013, Cyril opined that West Africa had outperformed the rest of Africa economically hence the company?s decision to serve the West African market.

According to Cyril Massard, Alfa Laval?s wide range of solutions for the oil and gas industry will address the needs of the region?s growing offshore exploration and production sector. Alfa Laval equipments and processes for food and beverages will serve the local demand for processed food while Alfa Laval?s marine and diesel range will also contribute to electricity production.

Speaking at an event held at the French Ambassadors residence, for the official opening of the West African office, Maryne Lemvik, President of Alfa Laval Sales Company for France and North West Africa expressed her delight at the new step of the company into the region and optimism on the company?s success in West Africa.

?We are very proud to create a footprint for Alfa Laval in West Africa. I know it is fearly easy to buy industrial equipments, from Alfa Laval or from other suppliers but I also know it is not that easy to get access to technical expertise and service during the whole lifetime of your equipments. And this is why we are here. We will be by your side, on a daily basis to help you with your daily challenges.

Today our local presence goes from technical and sales support to service. We started in August 2014 with myself. Eight months later, I have a field service engineer by my side, based here in Ghana. And we are already looking to hire a third person with strong expertise in food applications. Not to mention the products, applications and engineering specialists from the Alfa Laval Group who are supporting us. I hope Alfa Laval will soon be as famous in West Africa as it is in the rest of the world?, she said.

On his part, the french Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Fr?d?ric Clavier, welcomed Alfa Laval to Ghana and expressed confidence and optimism in the success of the company in Ghana and the West African region as a whole.
