Several sources have confirmed that Akwa Ibom State PDP is planning to carry on a civil march in Abuja in support of Godswill Akpabio. The demonstration is said to be a strategy to influence the outcome of the case between Godswill Akpabio and Frank Okon, which is pending a ruling by Judge Kafarati.
?
An analyst in Akwa Ibom said: ?The decision by PDP leaders to ferry people to Abuja for a demonstration means that Godswill Akpabio is in real trouble. They (PDP leaders) must know what many of us don?t. The ruling is not out, yet. So, how do they know the outcome of the case is not going to favor Akpabio? They have been saying that Frank Okon has no case against Akpabio. Now, why are they so jittery??
?
Sources say a total of 600 youths have been selected for the march, which is scheduled for Friday, September 14, 2012. The youths have been promised a payment of thousands of naira. However, information received has confirmed that based on their past experiences of broken promises, the youths are demanding complete payment of the money promised to them, before they would leave Uyo. But the PDP is afraid that if the youths are paid in advance, many of them will pocket the money and refuse to join others for the demonstration in Abuja.
?
It has been confirmed that the brain behind the planned demonstration is Secretary Umana Okon Umana. It has also been confirmed that he is the one who is financing the trip. It could be recalled that Umana Okon Umana has publicly made known his interest to enter the race for the governorship of Akwa Ibom State in 2015. Therefore, any ruling which derails Akpabio will definitely kill Umana?s ambition. Hence his desperate attempt to make sure that the status quo is intact.
?
Developing story on this matter will be posted as soon as it is available.
