President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo delivered a compelling address at the 50th-anniversary celebration of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and the launch of the Arab-Africa financial consortium in Accra on Sunday, urging the empowerment of women and youth as critical drivers of resilient and prosperous societies.
Highlighting the pivotal role of women and youth in national development, President Akufo-Addo underscored that their empowerment is a matter of social justice and a crucial factor for economic growth and societal resilience.
“There is still a significant gender gap and high youth unemployment in many of our countries. We must take bold and decisive actions to address these issues,” President Akufo-Addo emphasized.
He advocated for promoting gender equality, supporting women-owned businesses, and creating opportunities for young people to access meaningful employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
“By empowering women and youth, we can build more resilient and prosperous societies,” President Akufo-Addo concluded, urging collective action to achieve inclusive development across Africa.
The event brought together leaders and stakeholders across the region to explore avenues for enhanced economic cooperation and sustainable development initiatives.
