Cybersecurity expert Isaac Kwame Antwi has identified artificial intelligence as the transformative force behind Africa’s infrastructure evolution, enabling smarter solutions across telecommunications, energy and public services.
In an interview with Ghana News Agency, Antwi highlighted AI’s growing role in predictive maintenance, cybersecurity and energy optimization from Ghana to South Africa, while noting persistent challenges around data scarcity and skills gaps.
The continent is witnessing localized AI innovation through initiatives like Data Science Nigeria and research at KNUST, complementing policy frameworks like the African Union’s Digital Transformation Strategy.
However, Antwi cautioned that without robust data governance and ethical guidelines, Africa risks exacerbating digital inequalities even as it leapfrogs legacy systems through intelligent automation.
