Afreximbank’s investment arm CANEX Creations Inc. has agreed to acquire an equity stake in C.R.E.A.M., the digital talent platform founded by Nigerian artist D’Banj.

The term sheet was finalized during Afreximbank’s Annual Meetings (AAM2025) in Abuja, pending due diligence and board approval.

The platform, operated by D’Kings Men Media Ltd., reports seven million subscribers in Nigeria and has facilitated over 38,000 creatives through funding and development programs since 2016. It uses web/USSD technology (*463#) to provide low-barrier artist monetization, having launched careers of musicians like Berri Tiga and LADE.

CANEX Head Osahon Akpata emphasized Africa’s creative sector as critical for youth employment, citing its global $2 trillion valuation. The investment aims to scale C.R.E.A.M.’s reach and tools, aligning with Afreximbank’s $2 billion Creative Africa Nexus initiative to bolster intellectual property rights and revenue streams for African artists.

AAM2025 convened 8,000 participants, including heads of state and policymakers, from June 25–28.
