Evans Adotey insists Ghana?s team can handle the expectation of being contenders at the FIFA U-17 Women?s World Cup but his first target is the Group B opener.

Ghana begins the action on Saturday in Costa Rica against 2012 runners-up Korea DPR in Liberia at 23:00GMT.

The Black Maidens, bronze medalist at the previous World Cup in Azerbaijan two years ago need to get off to a good start to have a realistic chance of advancing from a group which also includes Germany and Canada.

?I was with the team in the last edition which won bronze, this time round, I am in charge with the expectation of going beyond where Ghana got to in the last edition,? a confident Adotey said at his pre-game media encounter on Thursday.

The opener will give Adotey a fair idea of what lies in store for Ghana and their ambitions with games against Germany and Canada yet to come next week.

?I am not predicting directly that I am winning silver or bronze. My first expectation or target is to win against Korea DPR and the next is to qualify to the next round.?

?After that I would come out boldly to tell the whole nation where I want my team to belong.?

Placing third at the last competition seems to have raised the bar for the Black Maidens and Adotey is determined to make the best out of this opportunity.

?I am hundred percent sure that either we maintain or go beyond that,? he said.
