This is the third time in five years that the Bank has been recognised for its lead role in CSR.

The citation accompanying the award reads: “Access Bank is noted for financial inclusion and empowerment, promoting employee relations and diversity, while investing in education, health, greening and environmental sustainability.”

Mr Kojo Williams, Lead Project Manager for the Conference said: “The Ghana CSR Diary and Awards initiative had evolved into a sub-regional agenda of West African CSR Conferences and Awards.”

He said since its launch in 2011, more than 60 blue-chips, small medium enterprises and socially-responsible companies out of about 500 other applicants, had their CSR activities verified, evaluated and awarded.

The Bank was among more than 110 socially responsible corporate entities, who were assessed for recognition.

He said the CSR Excellence Awards seeks to identify, verify, evaluate and reward socially-responsible activities of companies in the country and across the sub-region, as they contribute to national and sub-regional growth, sustainability and prosperity.

It was open to small, medium and large companies in Ghana and all stakeholders in the CSR and Community Development spectrum.

Mr Nana Adu Kyeremateng, Representative of the Bank, receiving the award said: “Our joint efforts at creating a sustainable banking environment through our Employee Volunteering Programme and other initiatives has led to this recognition, a testament to our desire to real impact in our communities of operations.”

He said over the past six years, Access Bank Ghana has demonstrated its continued commitment to social investments and is focused on the areas of education, health, arts and culture, environment and sports.

“These social investments together with its financial performance and business expansion have contributed to the Bank being adjudged winner of several industry awards including 2013 Bank of the Year Award, 2013 Best Bank in Corporate Social Responsibility, 2012 Best Growing Bank in Ghana, 2010 Most Socially responsible Bank and 2010 Best Bank in Agric Financing.
