The agreement, signed in Johannesburg on 21 July 2025, aims to expand digital infrastructure, support small businesses, and enhance customer experiences in Absa’s regional markets outside South Africa.
According to the press release, the collaboration has already introduced innovations such as Visa Direct for card-to-card payments, premium Visa metal cards, and Absa Pay issuer wallets in Mauritius. In 2025, Absa launched Visa Business Credit Cards with features like virtual card issuance and expense management tools, a first for Sub-Saharan Africa.
