The Overlord of the Gonja land Traditional Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Yagbonwura Tuntumba Bore Essa I has re-enskined the embattle chief of Buipe, Abdulai Mahama Jinapor as the traditionally recognize paramount chief of Buipe (Buipewura) at a colourful ceremony in the Yagbon palace, Damongo, Friday.

The Yagbonwura in support with the Traditional Council, Kingmakers, Imams and elders of the Gonjaland Kingdom enskined the former police officer as the legitimate chief to the Buipe throne, Chief Abdulai Mahama is now known as Buipewura Jinapor II, a title he held since 11th June 2008 until he was deskined on the 14th May 2010 by the Traditional Council for alleged misconduct.

Subsequent to his deskinment, another person, one Bonyapowura Bawah from the Yafa gate was enskined as a Buipewura by the Traditional Council but Chief Jinapor file a case at the High Court and won.

There have been several hostilities between the rival chiefs in Buipe but the re-enskinment of Buipewura Jianapor II as a substantive Buipe Chief (Buipewura) will bring total peace to the area, according the Gonja’s Overlord.

His Royal Highness, the Yagbonwura stressed the need for all and sundry in the kingdom to coexist and embrace themselves with the possibilities to bring total transformation and development to the Gonjaland Kingdom and the north as a whole.

The Gonja’s Overlord entreats the people in the area especially the rival groups in Buipe to restrain themselves from things that can inflate passions and mar the beauty of the enskinment ceremony, and therefore warned the leaders of the rival group control their followers.

Earlier, the Yagbonwura and the Gonjaland Tradition Council to bring total peace to Buipe therefore gave the rival Bupie Chief, Bonyanpowura Bawah another chieftaincy title known as Danyapiwura to pave way for the re-enskinmnt of Abdulai Mahama Jinapor as the substantive Buipewura.

Speaking to the press after his re-enskinment, the Buipewura Jinapor II urged the people of Buipe to see themselves as one people with common destiny.

He said, the only enemy of the area is poverty and ignorant, which with the support of the people, ‘I will work hard to bring more development and programs to alleviate poverty in Buipe and its environs’.

He therefore pledged to work closely with the rival chief to bring together for the development of the area.

The Buipewura commended the government for playing key role in ensuring that there is peace in Buipe and its environs. He again thanked the Yagbonwura, his elders and all the people of Gonjaland for having confident in him to work for the people of Buipe.

Businessman, Alhaji Asumah Banda who has also played an integral part in the Buipe chieftaincy resolution was described by Buipewura Jinapor II as a beacon of peace.
