?Invest in Africa? has pledged its support for the British High Commission?s Sport Relief charity fundraising initiative by donating a framed Sunderland FC football shirt for auction.

Sam Brandful, Invest in Africa, Ghana Manager, presented the framed Sunderland shirt to Peter Jones, British High Commissioner to Ghana and witnessed by Gill Norris, Founder/Project Manager of The Ghana Education Project.

Ms Adwoa Agyemang, Accounts Executive of Gong Communications, an international public relation agency, said in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency over the weekend.

?This weekend, the British High Commission (BHC) in collaboration with Ghana UK Based Achievement Awards (GUBA), is organising the ?Sport Relief Mile? ? a one mile run, walk, hop, skip or jump, for all the family at the El Wak Stadium.?

All monies raised would go directly to support a local Ghanaian charity, the Ghana Education Project (GEP).

According to the statement, in order to showcase the event and promote the good work of Sport Relief, the BHC would also challenge Ghana?s Ministry of Sport to a football match at the El Wak Stadium, with the British High Commissioner and the Minister of Youth and Sports, acting as the managers of their respective teams.

The statement said Mr Sam Brandful noted that, ?Invest in Africa? is delighted to make this contribution to the fundraising efforts of The British High Commission and GUBA.

?We agreed that a branded Sunderland T-shirt would be a very appropriate item to donate in support of Sport Relief and also bearing in mind the high-stakes of football matches!?

?Invest in Africa? was founded in 2012 and has since grown with the following as partners; Tullow, Lonrho, EY (Ernst & Young), Ecobank, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Guinness Ghana Breweries Ltd. (GGBL), and UT Bank.
