The Potters Association of Namibia (PAN) together with the National Art Gallery of Namibia (NAGN) are opening the 9th National Ceramics Biennale in the capital, Windhoek.

The event will run until September 20.

“We are delighted to announce that Clementina Van der Walt, a well known award-winning Ceramist from South Africa will be our judge this year. She will be assisted in the selection and judging process by Elize Van Huyssteen from the Namibian Arts Association,” said Snobia Kaputu the Chief Executive Officer at the National Art Gallery of Namibia.

People interested in Ceramist from Kenya, Angola, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe will also attend the event.

Kaputu said Van der Walt will be hosting two workshops during her visit to Namibia.

“Van der Walt will talk about the anthropomorphism in clay and her experience in pottery workshops,” she added.

Kaputu said prices will be offered for a diversity of ceramic categories.

“These include wheel work, hand work sculpture, rural pottery from the Zambezi region, new signature, most promising beginner and the ever-popular people’s choice award,” said Kaputu. Enditem
