Nine Yemeni citizens had been deported from United States to Djibouti on transit through Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, the Ethiopian government announced Friday.

deport U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order banning travel into the United States for citizens from seven countries for 90 days, including Yemen, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Syria.

“The only reason that they came to Addis Ababa was because the Ethiopian airlines has flight from Addis Ababa to Washington,” according to Negeri Lencho, Ethiopia’s Government Communication Minister.

“The decision to deport the deportees is that of American government, and it has nothing to do with Ethiopia,” the minister said.

According to Lencho, the deportees were sent to Djibouti “on their own will”.
