Gary Bale

[caughtoffside.com] White Hart Lane?s prized asset on his way to the Bernabeu after deal agreed ?In principal?.

Tottenham have reportedly agreed a deal to sell Gareth Bale to Real Madrid according to the Daily Mail.

Following unsuccessful efforts to persuade the 24 year old winger to ignore advances from the Spanish giants this source claims that the White Hart Lane side have agreed ?in principal? to a deal to sell Bale to the La Liga side and will confirm the deal once they have secured signings of their own.

Real Madrid believe they have won the race thanks to an world record ?87m bid for the Welsh international though Andre Villas-Boas is apparently keen to bring in Bernabeu youngster Alvaro Morata it is unclear as that move will actually be part and parcel of any deal that sees Bale move to the Spanish capital.

Tottenham will seek to soften the blow of Bale?s departure by bringing in Valencia forward Roberto Soldado, who is apparently closing in on a ?26m switch to the North London side.

Villas-Boas?s decision to sign Belgian winger Nacer Chadli earlier this month was perhaps with a view to filling the void should his side fail to hang on to Gareth Bale.

Bale had a tremendous 2012/13 season, scoring 26 goals in all competitions, but Tottenham?s failure to secure a top four finish was always likely to lead to a possible departure of their most bankable asset.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy may well have elected to fight to keep the former Southampton man but it seems that it could be next to impossible to turn down an offer this magnitude.
