Those injured included the head of provincial court department, three local judges and four civilian passers-by, he said.

The injured were shifted to hospitals in the city, 60 km south of Kabul, the source added.

Further details about the incident are still forthcoming amid the absence of official statement.

Nearly 1,600 civilians were killed and more than 3,300 others wounded in conflicts and Taliban-led attacks in the first half of 2015, according to UN mission figures.

The officials blamed the attacks of Taliban insurgents and other armed groups for vast majority of the civilian deaths and injuries. Enditem
