The United States has deported at least seven South Sudanese nationals accused of engaging in criminal activities, a South Sudanese government official confirmed on Tuesday.
Mawein Makol, a spokesman from the ministry of foreign affairs, said four deportees were handed over to South Sudanese authorities last Thursday and three others are expected to return to the east African nation next week.
Makol did not elaborate on the crimes committed by the South Sudanese citizens while in the U.S., saying that the government is still investigating the matter.
“We are going to investigate these people to evaluate their crimes and decide whether to keep them in detention or send them to their families,” the spokesperson told Xinhua by phone. Enditem
