A South African lesbian couple have been told to split-up or their son will be expelled from school.

Samantha, 27, and Kally Mabe, 26, claim they were
told their homosexuality was ?problematic? by a pastor at their five-year-old son?s school.

They were accused of falsifying the information
stating their sexual orientation in the school?s application letter.

But they insist when they enrolled their son in the Secunda Highveld Christian School in Mpumalanga, they were open about their marriage with staff.

?We never hid the fact that [our son] has two mothers and I filled in my details under the section in the form that asks for his mother?s details and Sam filled in the area that said ?Father/Guardian?, but filled in her title as Mrs?, Kally told Gay Star News.

The legally married couple?s son told a teacher he had two mothers, the couple was ordered to attend a meeting with the headteacher and a pastor last

She said: ?The pastor said if they had known we were a lesbian couple, they would never have allowed our son in the school.

After the couple refused to break up or take their son out of school, the pastor allegedly threatened to take legal action.

The couple are open about their relationship and even posted extracts of their wedding on a newspaper website as part of their anti-discrimination activism.

While Secunda Highveld Christian School declined to comment to the paper.

Mpumalanga?s education department spokesperson Jasper Zwane said that although the school was independent, they viewed such matters in a serious light and would investigate.

Last month a physical education coach in Columbus, Ohio was shocked after the Catholic school where she taught for 19 years fired her for being a lesbian.

Carla Hale, 57, of Powell, was given her marching orders at the end of last month days after her late mother?s obituary in February detailed Ms Hale?s relationship with a woman named Julie.

When a parent of one of the students noticed the announcement and complained to the school authorities, Ms Hale was promptly dismissed on the grounds that she had ?violated the school?s ?moral policy.?
