The police on Wednesday arraigned five security guards at the Gudu Upper Area Court charged with
negligent conduct.
The accused are Godwill Iorpineya, Gilbert Ogba, Ikechukwu Ugochukwu, John Adamu and Abubakar Noma, who are all security guards at Murg Plaza, Area 10, Garki, Abuja.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Mohammed Garba, told the court that one Iloka Chulaudi of Area 11, Garki, Abuja, reported the matter at the Garki police station on May 6.
He said that the accused persons were on duty on May 6 and negligently allowed criminals to break into the complainant?s office and stole laptops, a Nokia mobile phone, a Techno phone and N2,567,500 cash.
Garba said that the offences contravened Section 196 of the Penal Code.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty and the Judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 each with one surety each that must reside within the court?s jurisdiction.
He then adjourned the case until June 20 for further hearing.
