At least 4,000 Djiboutians will be leaving for Saudi Arabia in the month of August to work as waiters, drivers and to perform other domestic chores, a source from the Saudi Arabia Embassy in Djibouti has said.

JobAn agreement in this regard was signed recently between the two countries.

The source said the workers who had been selected by Djibouti’s labour ministry, will receive a minimum monthly pay of 200 U.S. dollars and a maximum of 1,700 dollars.

Saudi Arabia has signed a similar agreement for recruitment of domestic workers with seven other countries that include Philippines, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Nepal, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Enditem
