image002In the new issue of?In Touch,?on stands?tomorrow, Monica Warhol, the niece of?Andy Warhol, exclusively shares a first look of the $30,000 portrait of Kim Kardashian that Kanye West had commissioned.

?

?It?s a special?gift,? Monica says of the opportunity to paint pop culture icons. ?I am picking up where Andy?left off, and Kim is the perfect addition to the Warhol legacy.??She strongly believes that Andy would approve of having Kim ?Warholified? as Monica likes to call it. ?There is no way Andy Warhol would not have painted her. Kim is manufactured gorgeous and is beyond fabulous. How could Andy not have been inspired to paint her like he did Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor??

Kim?s portrait will be immortalized as a part of what Monica refers to as her ?ongoing series of contemporary Superstars? in what she has branded ?the New Warhol format.? ??My style incorporates layers upon layers both hand drawn and in Photoshop, printed out and burned to individual silk screens, and is then hand-painted in the beginning, middle and the end.?

As far as other superstar portraits go, Monica was recently commissioned by Lenny Kravitz and has done portraits for Flo Rida as well as Mick Jagger. ?I would also like to ?Warholify??Rihanna, Snoop, Wiz Khalifa, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry once I finish with Kim!”?To see more of Monica?s work visit MonicaWarhol.com.
