At least 26 people died in various road traffic accidents recorded during Zambia’s long holiday, the police said on Thursday.

Esther Mwaata-Katongo, the police spokesperson said a total number of 310 road traffic accidents were recorded during the long weekend from July 1-4.

She, however, said the number of fatalities decreased compared to the same period last year when 47 people died in 282 road traffic accidents.

She added that 56 people sustained serious injuries this year compared to 75 during the same period last year. Enditem
