The Confederation of African Football has drawn Uganda to face Cote d’Ivoire Coast in the qualifiers of the 2018 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Beach Soccer.

Ahmed Hussein, the Uganda FA communications manager told reporters on Wednesday that the Uganda Sand Cranes will host the Cote d’Ivoire team on Sept. 9 while the return leg will be played between Sept. 21 and 23 in Abidjan.

“We are looking forward to better preparations ahead of the qualifiers. We are confident, our team is young and has the experience. They are looking forward to the games,” Hussein said.

“The two-legged encounter will see the winner qualify for the finals to take place in Egypt in December,” said Hussein.

The event that is expected to attract eight teams will take place Dec. 9-14 in Cairo, Egypt.

The last time Uganda took part in the qualifiers was in 2015 when the Uganda Sand Cranes were eliminated by the Ghana National team Black Sharks to qualify for the 2016 AFCON Beach Soccer tournament. Enditem
