Mr Ebenezer Kofi Portuphy, aspiring National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has appealed to all members irrespective of their geographical location, to work in unity and focus on the party winning the 2016 general election.

kofi_portuphyHe said the 2016 general election might not be a walk-over for the party but with unity of purpose and determination, the NDC could maintain their grip on power after the election.

Mr Portuphy, who was speaking to journalists on the just-ended constituency and regional elections, said “If we are able as a party to hold our acts together, there is nothing that will stand in the way of the NDC “.

Mr Portuphy, who is the NDC director of elections, described the just ended elections as a huge success that should be replicated in the National Executive election.

He appealed to the winners to work with the losers adding “In every competition, some win and some lose but in the end unity is required from all, putting the past behind and bracing for the task ahead.”

Mr Portuphy said the NDC was working well under President Mahama’s administration and called on all supporters and sympathizers to eschew bickering and back lashing as it could undermine unity.

On his chances of winning the National Chairmanship, Dr Portuphy said:”I am working hard, I am talking to the people and they have also reposed their confidence in me…”

“I won’t leave anybody behind; I will unite the party and make it more attractive and vibrant by collaborating with all of you,” he said.

He said although the NDC was focused on winning the 2016, there was the need to forget of the past and forge ahead to ensure a massive win in the general election.
