Quick thinking by electoral officials at the Berlin Top Temporary Structure polling centres ‘A’ and ‘B’ in the Sunyani East Constituency prevented voting from being delayed at one of the centres.

An-hour-and-a-half after voting started, polling booths for Temporary Structure ‘B’ had not arrived for voters who had been queuing since 0430 hours to cast their ballot.

The officials and the party agents agreed to take one of the polling booths from the other centre to allow the exercise to begin.

The voters had to use a single booth for both the presidential and parliamentary election.

Mr. Augustine Yamba, the Presiding Officer for the Centre ‘B’, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that he had informed the District Office of the Electoral Commission (EC).

Persons with disabilities, the aged, pregnant and nursing mother, were allowed to vote without having necessarily to stand in long queues.

A total of 1,078 people are expected to cast their ballot at the two centres.
