The authorities at the Police Hospital in Accra will have a mass burial for 120 unclaimed bodies stacked in the hospital’s mortuary on February 14 – a day set aside worldwide for the celebration of love.

According to the hospital’s authorities, most of the bodies are those who died through criminal related offences.

In an interview with Citi News, the spokesperson of the hospital, Chief Inspector Juliana Obeng, said the exercise is a routine task aimed at decongesting the morgue.

“Unfortunately, these bodies do not carry IDs and so we don’t even know how to reach their families much more contact them,” she said. “These are paupers picked up by the road side, bodies picked by the CID at hotels among others and so we have no information on them. ”
