Following the renewed vigour and determination of the Federal Operations Unit Zone ?A? Ikeja-Lagos of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to ensure zero tolerance for the importation of all prohibited items particularly frozen poultry products into the country, the unit has intercepted a DAF Truck loaded with 1, 074 cartons of assorted smuggled frozen poultry products.

The smuggled products are valued at N4, 833, 000 with a duty of N966, 600  and a Duty Paid Value of N5,799,600.

Comptroller Nuhu Isa Mahmoud of the zone disclosed that the a patrol team led by Assistant Comptroller Abdullahi Kirawa, apprehended the truck with the driver named Mike Abram and one Mr. Richard Ikhabuzor, who was escorting the truck during the arrest.

Mahmoud said the truck with registration number DELTA XB 434 DSZ intercepted based on an intelligence report was trailed to Alaba International Creeks via Mile 2 before the interception.

Remarkably, he pointed that the smuggled poultry products were concealed with 190 cartons of Viju and bobo milk; which clearly showed their intent to mislead security operatives.

However, he assured Nigerians that the Unit will not rest on its oars until the activities of these unpatriotic Nigerians are brought to book.
