Plots of land

Kano State Government on Monday said it would give titles to at least 100,000 plots before the end of the administration in 2015.

The Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Dr Nadu Yahya, said this while receiving the Presidential Task Force on Land Reform in Kano. He said it was an honour that Kano was selected by the Federal Government as a pioneer state for the systematic registration of lands.

“Kano has begun systematic land registration about a year ago and it has registered at least 5,000 plots till date. This was in line with the Federal Government?s land reform initiative, the government has already employed 50 graduates who will receive training to continue with the process later.?

The Chairman of the Task Force, Venerable Andrus Ukaejiofor, had earlier commended the government for efforts in land reform. He said the reform was in line with the presidential agenda.

Ukaejiofor solicited for support of the state, saying there was need for it to set up a committee at the state level to work with the task force and advised that the state should train it?s personnel since the beneficiaries of the project would come from Kano.
