The four day seminar was organized under the auspices of the World Chun Ki Do Association based in Germany and drew participants from seven schools across the country.
The objective of the seminar was to prepare the participants, who are between the ages of seven and 17 years, in self defense, safety, leadership and confidence skills to enable them to face the future with confidence.
The instructor at the seminar was Grand Master Roman Nikolaus Urban from the World Chun ki Do Association in Germany and holds a 9th degree black belt in Hap Ki Do .
He trained the participants in basic kicking ,blocking and punching, defending against aggressive attacks, focus, and concentration on how to prevent abuse as well as build self esteem and character development.
As part of the training, some members were promoted to black belts.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Master Akoto Raphael Sylvanus, President of Africa Chun Ki Do Association said, the seminar was intended to develop and appreciate Hap Ki Do and Taekwondo as a sport and an art, as well as to improve the mental discipline and emotional equanimity of the participants.
He said Ghana’s exploits on the international scene in martial arts kept attracting the attention of the international community, particularly those in the self defense and safety sports.
Mr Akoto said the exploits of two kids’ from Accra Grammar School has earned them a chance to train with Silent Stream Martial Arts and Tiger and Dragon Association, based in Germany and would also participate in a competition organized by these associations and the World Organization of Martial Arts and Athletics (WOMAA) this year.
